Website Redesign: 10 Key Signs It's Time to Redesign Your Website

12:14 PM 0
Website redesign

In this age of the Internet, your website can also be considered as the face of your brand. Thus, you must keep your website's look up-to-date.

And if you are redesigning your website, a lot of factors should be considered during the process.

But how do you exactly know that it is time for a site redesign? Well, the answer is not as straightforward as you think it is.

To help you decide, we came up with the ten key signs that will tell you if it is now time to redesign your website.

Your conversion rates are decreasing

Adding web analytics is an excellent way to keep track of incoming website traffic, as well as conversions. You can also track phone calls, downloads, form completions, and so on.

Various aspects can cause a low conversion rate on your websites, such as having a poor user experience or an outdated site design. That’s because these issues make it incredibly challenging for visitors to find what they are searching for on your site.

Meaning, there is no clear path of conversion on your site. Users can easily get lost, distracted on their way to filling up forms, or on the check-out.

Also, if ever they make it to your offer, contact, or check-out page, they can still be turned off by forms and pages that are poorly designed. It can also create suspicion and distrust among site visitors, especially if you are asking them payment or personal information.

A good site redesign allows you to create a better UX for your site visitors. Thus, improving your conversion rate.

It’s not helping you with your business goals

If you cannot completely carry out your marketing strategy, you would not be able to achieve your business goals.

How is that so? Well, remember that your website can be a powerful tool for your business. The way that your site will look and feel will have a significant effect on your marketing, sales, and your customer's overall satisfaction.

For instance, part of your marketing strategy is to fulfill a goal and engage more users. You also want to generate more leads so that you can support your business and raise brand awareness.

You cannot keep up with all the demands if you have an old site. It needs to be able to generate enough qualified leads so that you can be able to give a remarkable site performance.

It’s not fast enough for your visitors

Most users expect your site to load quickly. Check out Google’s PageSpeed Insights Tool and see how long does it take for your site to load on both desktop and mobile. That’s because speed is one of the most crucial factors in how your site will rank on search engines.

A slow loading site can turn off impatient users away, which will click back if they cannot get what they are looking for in just a few seconds. Over time, you will suffer from high bounce rates, and this can decrease your conversion rates as your consumer satisfaction drops.

A slow loading site can be factored for several reasons. Maybe you have too many videos, too many outdated codes, and erroneous scripts.

As a general rule of thumb, your site should load at least 3 seconds. If your site is not loading in such a way, then it is high time to consider site redesign.

It doesn’t function properly on other devices

A lot of people spend time on their phones and tablets these days. In fact, according to Smart Insights, a whopping 20% of Google searches are done on a mobile device.

But it doesn't end there. More than half of local internet searches are done via mobile devices.

So, these statistics tell you that most of the world has already gone mobile. If your site is not optimized for mobile devices yet, then it is high time to consider a responsive redesign for your website.

It’s not secured and protected with HTTPS

Older sites are in greater danger of being hacked because they mostly rely on the technology's security updates.

The reality is that your website can easily be hacked. That's why, it is crucial that all the important data, which can expose or endanger your users and your business in any way, should be properly secured and protected.

To make your users (and business) a lot more secure, you need to utilize the Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS). What HTTPS does is that scrambles your data to and from your site, preventing unauthorized users from reading it.

Utilizing HTTPS will also give your website a secure padlock icon whenever its viewed on Chrome.

It contains dead links

Dead links, also known as broken links, can be harmful to your site’s user experience.

Although they may appear to be ordinary links, they do not send visitors directly to the intended page when clicked. Instead, it brings them to a 404 error page.

It’s hard to navigate

Sometimes, users might not easily find what they are looking for and will find it daunting to navigate different pages on your site. Some of them will eventually become frustrated and leave.

Sites that are usually difficult to navigate are the ones that have too many contents and has a lousy site architecture. Plus those websites with an interface that does not help visitors find exactly what they are looking for.

If that's the case, then you need to embark on a site redesign.

Your site's navigation is also important to search engines because Google always wants users to have an excellent user experience. It will rank sites poorly if they have a lousy navigational structure.

You must redesign your site for better navigation, easier to find call to action (CTA) buttons, more internal links, and less clutter.

It uses ineffective calls-to-action

You should have a clear and effective call to action to guide visitors with the next step that they should take when engaging with your business.

Make use of a website design that is innovative when using call-to-actions. That will help take visitors from point A to point B, such as from your home page, to your purchase page. Without these CTAs, users are less likely to navigate your website with ease.

It has an outdated design

As your business grow and evolve over the years, your site that might have worked well back in 2014 may not work well in 2019.

So, if you have a site that is already a few years old, then chances are, it is already outdated.

Websites have changed over the years. Today, more and more people want a clean design and easy navigation. So if you have a site that is cluttered, outdated, and messy, it is time to consider a site redesign.

In a study by ResearchGate, 94 percent of users say sites that have a good design are more trustworthy. Your customers and prospects must trust you, and a powerful redesign can make that happen.

Redesign Your Site to the Next Level

A site redesign can be a major game-changer for your brand or business. That’s because it can help expand your brand’s customer reach, as well as improved your sales and revenue. Consider it as a long-term investment that will contribute to your success over time.

Latest WordPress Development Trends Prevailing in 2019

4:57 AM 1
Wordpress Developer Office

Do you know that as of January 2019, nearly half of the world’s population is using the internet? And there are close to 1.8 billion active websites today. Well, this may be fascinating on one side, but on the other side, it shows the growing level of a tough competitive online market.

However, if you choose a robust and effective PHP-based Content Management System (CMS) platform such as WordPress, you can keep pace with the current technology.

Why? WordPress has the capability to power all kinds of websites. So, whether you want to create a personal blogging website or want to build an e-commerce store, Wordpress Development Company is your one-stop solution.

It offers you feature-rich plugin architecture and template systems that support the development of an interactive and responsive website. But merely getting the best themes and plugins will not drive traffic to your website. You need to follow the latest trends in WordPress development to lead the way ahead.

So, let’s drive through the top 5 WordPress development trends of 2019 to put your business in a commanding position.

Building Mobile Responsive Websites

Creating a single business website is not going to fetch you to the audience. You must know that people browse the internet more on Smartphone devices than traditional desktops. So, you need to catch up with the increasing number of mobile users with a mobile responsive website.

You must also focus on Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) to create mobile-optimized content. Search engine giant Google gives a lot of priority to AMP when it ranks a website as most of the traffic is derived from mobile devices. AMP not only optimizes your site but also improves the loading speed so that users don’t have to wait for a long time.

Creating Video Headers

If I ask what is it that instantly draws the attention of a user towards a web page, what would be your answer? Maybe your reply would be a beautiful design, logo, or crunch content.

Now just imagine! You add a video background to your website that is continuously moving. Surely, then it will be difficult for anyone to take his eyes off it.

But how do you do it? The secret behind this latest recipe is video headers. Following the hot trend, you can create an eye-catching website. Also, keep in mind that video content appeals more to customers than text. Users can easily understand your products and services. Don’t forget that the video header is the number one trend in the web design industry.

Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality

When you first think of Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality, you usually have the impression that these innovative technologies are specifically designed for mobile applications and games.

But time is changing and so are the trends. Now both AR and VR are rightly getting implemented into website designs.

Guess what, AR and VR allow you to provide a 360-degree view of your product and it seems to the user that they are viewing an original product.

Let’s take an example of the fashion industry. If you are associated with fashion retail, you can use the AR technology as a Virtual Dressing Room. Your users can fix their smartphone or desktop camera facing them and then scroll down the choices displayed on the screen. Many retailers and e-commerce sites have already adopted this technology and now it’s your turn to implement the same.

The Latest Drag and Drop Themes

Do you think that basic layouts and themes can sufficiently drive traffic to your website? Most of you would answer no. But what if you have to transform that reply into a yes then? Maybe try out the customized themes and layouts.

Last year, we saw the enhancement in one of the popular trends. Do you have any idea? Yes, I’m talking about drag and drop theme for building a website. So, what’s so special about it? The themes allow you to build and customize a website without using any codes.

Now, what does this imply? It means that you don’t have to be a programmer or web developer to design a website. You can still build one with ease.

Animation to Gain More Focus

We all love animated characters, isn’t? It certainly fills our hearts with joy. Implement that joy on your website too.

But you would say that animation is not a new trend followed in the website development. We already have flash-based animations on the websites, so what’s new about it?

WordPress Development has updated the animation technology with the introduction of improved HTML5 and CSS3.

The newly improved animation technology has enhanced the user experience, making the website more interactive and vibrant.

Besides, the particle animations have also gained good ground. They are used more frequently in comparison to images and videos. You can easily create them in JavaScript.

With animation, you can deliver your message more precisely to the target audience than images and texts.

Summing it Up

The year 2019 has been an exciting and productive year for the WordPress Development Community. We have seen several new improvements and updates in the Content Management System.

Web Design Tips To Help Increase the Conversion Rate

10:05 PM 0

In this digital and interconnected world, it has become important for businesses to build an online presence. Even if your company is not conducting online business, customers in both B2B and B2C expect you to have an online presence. It’s not always compulsory that customers search your brand to make any purchase. They may go online to find answers to their queries. So instead of visit other informational sites, they find the company’s website the most trustable source for any query.

While highlighting your web presence, there are a lot of things that need to be taken care of; one of them is your website. Having an online presence doesn’t mean creating a basic website. The success of a website depends on various factors such as creating a user-friendly website design, customer loyalty, implementing the right SEO strategy, etc. Research shows that it takes 0.05 seconds for a user to form an opinion about the website and 94% website users’ first impression is design related. If you are planning to develop your own website or you already have one that may require some improvement, here are some web design tips that can help you in increasing the conversion rate.
Let’s have a look!
  1. Simplicity Rules:
It is the first and the foremost thing in design. Here, by simplicity, we mean removing unnecessary items from the design. The web design should be clean with two or three color schemes, and negative space, of course. To create a simple website, keep in mind the following things:
  • Everything on a website should serve a valuable purpose. If you think that ‘X’ element will not serve any purpose, then remove it from the design.
  • Once you trim away all the unnecessary elements, make sure the rest of your content and points should be clear and polished to attract the larger visitors.
  • The simplicity of the website should go hand in hand with usability. If you add some useful functions like book an appointment feature, interactive schedules, etc. your clients will be able to interact with you more effectively.
  1. Speak to The Right Users:
You can never create a website that will appeal to every person on Earth. If you try to target the wider audience, you may not get the desired results. So in order to avoid such situation, you should design your website in such a way that it fulfills the needs and tastes of your target audience. To speak to the right users, you first have to know who they are. And for that, follow the below-given steps:
  • Examine your current customers
  • Choose personal characteristics to target
  • Research your competitors
  • Create buyers persona
  • Choose demographic to target
  • Evaluate and revise your segmented audience
Once you are clear with your target audience, you will have a better understanding of triggers and strings that can help you in attracting more customers.
  1. Usability and Functionality Go First:
Like we mentioned earlier that functionality and usability should go hand in hand, but the question is how to make a website more useful for customers? Here are the checklists of important website usability aspects that you need to take care of:
  • Build a website where every section is related to the previous one. Try to stay consistent with the messages you deliver and make sure you don’t repeat oneself in any way.
  • Make the structure of your website into a strict hierarchy. The less complex it is to navigate, the more it will be easy for users to find their requirements.
  • Combine graphics and content carefully in the right combination according to your target audience
  • Don’t neglect the search form especially when you are into the e-commerce business. It will help the users in refining their queries, helping them to save their time and efforts.
  • The loading speed of a website is very important. The faster the speed, the lesser will be the bounce rate. Critically, your website should get load within 3 seconds.
  • Look for the niche-related plugins that can help you in enhancing the usability of your website.
  1. Visual Elements:
The visual elements play an important role in web design. They can make or break your website. You may find thousands of great images for your website, but if you want to make your website more engaging to users, then it’s better to browse through various logo ideas. Try to have your own personal images that are relevant to the content. It will not only help in capturing the attention but also gaining the confidence of the visitors. To ensure your competitors don’t use the same images; put your company logo on all the images. Are you thinking of creating a new logo or revamping the old one? Use the logo maker tool.
  1. Highlight What Matters The Most:
Modern website design allows designers to improve content with visual signs. It helps the customers to have a better understanding of the content. Some of the visual cues that should actively be used in pages are:
  • Text color
  • Bullets
  • Font size
  • Highlighting and underlying
These will help you to make your content more noticeable. Apart from these, you can also use micro-interactions that can redirect the customers to important elements. Make use of negative space to differentiate the important content from others.
  1. Stick To Basics:
By sticking to the basic rules, you will be able to deliver customers what they expect, in a more effective way. For instance, if you have a small business, then customers would expect you to have ‘About Us’, ‘Services’, and ‘Contact Us’ section on your website. Many people fear that following the convection will make their website look dull. But the fact is, this will help you in proving your credibility, thus making customers gain trust and confidence.
  1. Make It Easily Understood:
Nobody likes to visit and browse a website that fails to present their products and services in a simple and transparent way. Each element in your website should be according to the needs of the target audience. Customers should be able to understand each phrase, headline, and word without wasting a minute to understand its meaning. Consider the following tips in this regard:
  • Make CTA’s transparent and easy to locate
  • Avoid using terms that are industry-specific and are common in use
  • Keep your content simple, short. It will make your content look more impressive and can be grasped by the visitors easily.
  1. Cohesive Web design:
Every company has a unique personality, and it should reflect in every element and detail of the website. For this, it’s important to have the same tone and styling in all pages and blocks of a website. It will help in communicating and reflecting brand personality in a better way. That is why it’s important that each element of design works together and support the persona of your brand.
  1. Engage Visitors In ‘Human’ Way:
Nobody wants to be welcomed and instructed by a robot. Customers are more likely to choose brands that have human voice and face. As a result, original images push aside the stock imagery. Creating a website human-centered will make it easy for visitors to guess what they are supposed to do next. For instance, you can replace the CTA that says ‘Discover a solar installer’ with ‘Set your roof to work’. It will help you in getting more engagement.

  1. TETO Principle:
It is a famous principle that says 'Test early, Test often'. You cannot expect to have a sound web presence without testing. If you do testing in the early stage, you will be able to save a lot of time and efforts. Testing will give you a productive opinion. You will be relieved with the fact that you are moving in the right direction.

Conclusion:
Designing a website that attracts and retain users takes time and patience. You cannot create a ‘perfect’ website on the first go. But if you focus on the above tips, you will not only be able to create a great website but also will on a path towards higher conversion rate.
Good Luck!

So, you should hire someone, who can give you a follow up of the project’s development.

Question 8- What is the stipulated timeframe for the project completion?

Ans:- You should put up this question from the PHP developers before signing the deal. Just inquire from them that what time will it take to complete your requirements. Also, see if they make a division of the project in parts, so you will get to know the project’s progress timely.

HTML has not been around for many years. November 1990 marks the day of the first web page and back then there were little to know HTML standards to be followed. A group called World Wide Web Consortium was then formed and have since set the standards that are widely accepted.

Hence, creating an HTML document is easy. To begin coding HTML you need only two things: a simple-text editor and a browser. Notepad is the most basic of simple-text editors and you will probably code a fair amount of html with it.

FrontPage can virtually work miracles, but what's going on behind the curtain doesn't have to remain a complete mystery.

In fact, even if you don't plan on writing one iota of HTML, familiarity with the basics html tags can help you understand why FrontPage behaves the way it does. What follows is an ultra-fast HTML lesson.

It's quite a bit less than you'd actually need to write your own web pages by hand, but it will get started if you need to take a look at some of the HTML TAGS that FrontPage generates.

A web page is nothing more than a simple text file containing HTML tags and attributes. When a web browser summons an HTML file, it transforms this HTML into web pages. You could actually create your entire site using only Notepad, Windows's bare-bones text editor.

Inside every HTML document you will find two kinds of information:  the actual content that appears in a web browser and some strange looking fragments of text enclosed in brackets (< >) that are called HTML tags. These tags tells browsers how to display your content: how big it should be, how it should be formatted, and so on. HTML tags are easy to pick out. Just look for the brackets (< >) in this basic html tags sample of html page:
< html>
< head>
< title>Sample HTML Document< /title>
< /head>

< body>

< p> This is sample text on a sample page < /p>

This is a paragraph.

Text can be < b> bold < /b> or < i>italic< /i> or plain.

< /body>
< /html>

Basic HTML Tags Explained

Here's a breakdown of what is happening in that mini Web page:
  • The < !DOCTYPE> declaration represents the document type, and helps browsers to display web pages correctly.
  • The < html> tag tells the browser what kind of document it has encountered.
  • The < title> element, this comes between < head> & < /head> and will label the web browser's title bar, which is located in the top left of most browsers.
  • The < head> tags contain basic information about the page. For example, the document title appears here. (The text of the title appears between its own < title> tags so a browser can find and display it.) If this were a more complex page, the head might also include some HTML style tag information or even a script that animates text or pictures with the help of Javascript or HTML image tag on a particular web page.
  • The < body> tags surround the star of the show: the content of your page. Everything between these tags is what viewers will see in their web browsers (paragraphs, pictures, tables, etc).
  • < p> indicates the beginning of a paragraph and < /p> the end of the paragraph.
A tag actually consists of two parts: an opening tag and closing tag. The closing tag is identical to the opening tag except that it contains a forward slash (< />).

When a browser comes across an opening tag, like < b> bold tag in the example above, it applies the tag to everything that follows until the closing tag appears. In order words, tags enclose all the content they affect.

So, all text between the opening < b> bold tag and the closing < /b> bold tag will appear as bolded text. As you can see in the code just shown, each tag has an accompanying closing tag somewhere. The closing tag can be one character away or miles down the page.

For instance, the closing < /html> tag doesn't appear until the end of the document. That's because everything between the < html> tags is HTML. There are a few HTML tags that don't require a closing tag, but they're the exception to the rule.

Html basic tags

HTML Basic Tag List with Example

HTML headings are defined with the < h1> to < h6> tags: < h1> defines the most important heading. < h6> defines the least important heading

Example:

< h1 >This is heading 1< /h1>
< h2 >This is heading 2< /h2>
< h3 >This is heading 3< /h3>
< h4 > This is heading 4 < /h4>
< h5 > This is heading 5 < /h5>
< h6 > This is heading 6 < /h6>

HTML Paragraphs

HTML paragraphs are defined with the < p> tag.

Example:

< p>This is a paragraph.< /p>
< p>This is another paragraph.< /p>

HTML Links

HTML links are defined with the < a> tag.

Example:

< a href="https://comfortskillz.com/">This is a link< /a>

HTML Images Tags

HTML images are defined with the tag. The source file (src), alternative text (alt), width, and height are provided as attributes.

Example:

<#img src="Html-element.jpg" alt="Html-element" width="240" height="320"/>.

The above html tags are all that is required to create a basic web page!

Responsive Design and the Benefits That It Could Bring!

6:20 PM 0
Responsive design

What is responsive design?

Responsive design is a buzz word that we now often hear in the web designing industry. Responsive design is said to be the kind of web design that has more elements that could respond differently according to different devices. You might have accessed a website on your PC and it would have been designed with different elements whereas the same website when accessed with a mobile phone device might have different designing elements, this is what responsive design is about.

Needs for Responsive Design

The world is changing its structures completely and one of the changes that have happened in this world is the shift of business and other such operations on mobile phones and tablets. The same has sparked the needs of getting the websites to be designed in such ways that could make the design to be adjusted according to the device that you are using. This was intended to increase the experience of the user and giving him the adjustments according to the device he is using. But was this the only use of the responsive design or is this the only use that responsive design could bring? Well, not actually we are here with some of the more benefits that responsive design could bring in to your business.

The Top 4 Benefits of Responsive Web Design

  • Improving site usability

Navigation is the element to success in web design and if a user is unable to navigate easily then expect that he is going off your website too soon. The responsive design in this context could contribute to making the design of the website easy to be navigated. Whatever device a customer comes on if the responsive design is integrated the experience of the customer could be amazing. This is one of the benefits that could be driven through responsive designing of your website.

  • Getting pages with faster speed

Loading time is said to be visitor killer. This is one of the simple theories that you will always encounter in the study of web design that more the load time a page has the lesser the visitors will stay there and thus the load time is required to be kept minimum. The responsive web design can also make you able to have faster load time which is the reason that people usually like the responsive design on their website.

  • Decreased Bounced Rates

If you know the website designing and development in-depth you might know what I am going to talk about next but if you don’t here is a bit of clarification for the thing coming up next. Bounce rate is how quickly the user gets away from your website and the lower the bounce rate is the better the experience of customers will be. Content is not the only thing that is responsible for the decrease in bounce rate but also the design is an element for the same. The mobile responsive design might make you able to put up the content that is relevant as well as presents it in the dimensions that are suitable for getting the views. Such as if you have got an animated video from some video animation services and you have only set the design for a PC it might not only make your money to be wasted but also it might make your viewer go away which might have severe effects on your daily visits and sales as well.

  • Lower Costs

Well, keeping all things aside cost is something that is non-negligible. You cannot keep the costs out if you are working on something like business or website development. If you are making a website for a business and are working for all types of devices then the best thing you can consider in the designing is a responsive design. Through this, you can cover all of the devices on single costs and won’t have to pay the extra costs. This is one of the biggest benefits that organizations have in mind when they are considering on responsive website design for their business website.

Amazingly, responsive web designs have grown much in recent times. The main reason behind the same as mentioned is the increase in the use of mobile devices and tablets. But these reasons have mentioned that it is not only a trend that is integrated into the structures due to the needs but also because it brings a number of benefits to the field that it is attached with. More than static or traditional design responsive has taken over the world of web designing. A trend that has brought new psychology to this field by bringing the benefits to both the users as well as the developers and businesses.

Difference Between UI and UX Design

3:59 AM 0
There is still a lot of confusion between UI and UX. Most people or let’s just say, layman, tend to confuse the two to be the same. Well, in reality, UI and UX are two different concepts. Both may work in close in relation to each other but they serve different purposes. These terms may have been around for a long time, but people are still confused between the two. In this guide, we are going to state the difference between UI and UX. If you are interested to learn the meaning of both these terms then read along.

UI and User Experience Design

What is UX?

UX stands for user experience. It is basically a comprehensive process of creating a web product which can result in a great product or user experience. UX design is focused on the development of the overall design of the product such as an application or a website. The main purpose of user experience is to promote full customer satisfaction. This is achieved by providing a great user experience on the web environment. UI and UX of a website are managed by a UI/UX design and development company.

What Is UI?

In contrast to UX, UI Design refers the outlook of the website or an application. It primarily focuses on the visual elements of the web product such as buttons, menus, images, dropdowns and other similar components. Development of UI is related to choosing the colour, following the latest design and defining the corporate identity of the web product.

UI developers focus on creating and improving the character of the web product. Their main task is to enhance the outlook of the product. The user interface is that first thing that is noticed by people when they visit your page. If your site has a dull UI, visitors are likely to ditch your page and never come back. UI has a direct role to play in retaining the attention of your visitors. With the help of a UI/UX software development company, you can achieve the ideal UI for your website.

Benefits of A Great UI/UX Design

Having a good UI and UX design for your web product can benefit you in plenty of ways. Some of the benefits that you can derive from it include the following.

Increased Productivity

You should be informed that a better user experience can result in increased productivity. Having a good UI and UX design for your site ensures that each of your users spends more time on your site. This will also lead to increased sales.

Reduces development time

Around 50% of the time is lost in redoing and fixing mistakes that could have been easily avoided. This is why it is important for you to make sure that the design of your web product is made right in the first place. This will spare you from facing troubles later on.

Lower costs of support

If you have a well-designed app, you can be sure of the fact that it is going to work. However, when an app is designed poorly, you need spare expenses for documentation, training, and support. All of these results in higher costs later on. A well-designed app is also known to put less stress on the developers.

Customer retention

Another important benefit of building an intuitive and beautiful design is that more users will want to use it. If they like your product, chances are that they are going to keep using it. In today’s time of rising competition, it is extremely important for you to retain your customers. If by having a better UI and UX design can help you with your customers then it is totally worth a shot.

Customer acquisition

Having a better user experience and design can provide you with a competitive benefit. This will help you to attract more customers. You need to understand that UI and UX development is more than just designing a web product. It is an effective part of doing good business.

Conclusion

UI and UX both work together and contributes to the success of a website or application. One cannot work without the other and even if they do, it will be a complete failure for you. It is the work of a UI/UX development company to make your web product a success. Users should get the comfort of both UI and UX while visiting your webpage or using your application. These two are the most important factors that you need to look into while developing a website. Hopefully, now the difference between UI and UX is clear to you.

Database management is witnessing a significant shift over the last few years, and the center of this shift is the advancement in NoSQL database management systems over the conventional relational SQL databases. Even though people are a bit hectic about the NoSQL concept, there are some significant advantages NoSQL databases got to offer, especially as cloud computing is largely gaining in popularity.

Latest of the NoSQL databases are created to cover up the limitation of NoSQL DBMS technologies. In comparison with the conventional relational databases, NoSQL is easily scalable at any point without the need for additional resources and also cost-effectively.

Along with it, these databases are also capable of offering better performance, and the data management models of NoSQL addresses many longstanding shortcomings of relational database models.

NoSQL advantages

On a quick review of the major advantages of the NoSQL databases are:
  • Ability to handle a huge volume of unstructured, semi-structured, as well as structured data.
  • Ability to handle agile sprints, constant code pushes, and quick iteration, etc.
  • Support object-oriented coding which is more flexible and easier to use.
  • Cheaper, scale-out model architecture compared to the monolithic architecture which is more expensive.
As of late, we can see more and more corporate firms are leveraging the benefits of NoSQL DBs to handle the increasing numbers of specific use cases effectively. The major NoSQL databases now are also open-source, which will not only reduce the cost, but also make it easier to develop, share, and implement it freely.

MongoDB as a leading NoSQL database

On thinking of NoSQL databases, companies now tend to choose MongoDB to develop the modern-day applications. The reason for the increasing popularity of MongoDB is that it offers many major advantages of the relational databases too along with the latest innovations in NoSQL. However, we need also to consider that it has some shortfalls too when it comes to meeting some specific database requirements, which can be better performed on NoSQL databases.

Why MongoDB?

As we know, the universe of data is ever expanding, which had further given rise to the requirements in efficient databases and better DBMS practices. We need optimum performance along with anytime availability and need-based scaling on handling huge volumes of individual data chunks. This is one major reason why MongoDB is adopted by more and more business database administrators to reap the best results.

As is the leading NoSQL database among a handful of its kind, MongoDB has many significant advantages. As we have seen above, unlimited scalability, speed, and high flexibility are the major benefits making it popular in terms of handling a huge volume of data. With these advantages, MongoDB helps the businesses to streamline the data flow, manage their applications in a better manner, and also improve the overall user experience.

A short overview of MongoDB

As RemoteDBA.com points out, MongoDB has an increasing preference over a very short period of time. Many bigger global corporations too with the need for handling huge volumes of data in a quick and agile manner have also adopted MongoDB as their database system. MongoDB is:
  • Open source
  • Object-oriented
  • Simple
  • Dynamic, and
  • Scalable.
This NoSQL DB is written in C++, which is a solid platform well known for high performance and admirable flexibility. Some of the major advantages of MongoDB suite are as below.
  • Unlike relational databases, the application code in the DB gets mapped to database objects in a document model. This makes data management much easier and quicker.
  • The scope of larger geographic distribution, horizontal scaling ability, high any-time availability is built-in features of MongoDB with a distributed database.
  • Data analytics which is a mandatory need now in real-time is aggregated at MongoDB with built-in features to do indexing and raise random queries. This enables the users to determine the section-wise performance of the business more effectively.
  • The fields in the MongoDB can vary based on the changes in data structure over time. This offers larger flexibility and made possible by using documents which are similar to JSON for storing data.

Businesses sector where MongoDB can be implemented effectively

Some of the major sectors where MongoDB may be the most appropriate database choice include, but not limited to:
Social and mobile infrastructure
  • Data hub maintenance
  • Content management and content delivery
  • Managing user data and effective handling of it.
From a functional point of view, the major areas in which MongoDB can be effective in include:
  • Real-time reporting of data for live business functions by recalling data from multiple servers. MongoDB can collect data and delivery out quickly in order to make the real-time business decision-making function more effective.
  • The changes and upgrades to your business databases can be much easily and quickly done in real-time with the flexibility and scalability offered by MongoDB.
  • Mongo DB can also be very effective in CMS (Content Management Systems). CMS is now widely used for business application development. For those who need high flexibility in database design with fields and parameters changing in different documents, MongoDB can be an ideal choice.
  • MongoDB supports a rich object model, where objects of specific properties can be nested with one another in multiple-level database architecture. This model is largely object-oriented to represent all kind of object structures easily. You may also be able to index properties of any objects at different levels of the hierarchy. This is a very powerful feature by MongoDB, making it highly competent for the advanced technology needs.
  • The modern-day businesses which implement data collection through a wide range of sensors, which generates an overwhelming volume of data, MongoDB can effectively handle. Traditional RDBMS systems may crash with such huge data flows.
With all the above advantages offered over traditional SQL databases and also the competitors in NoSQL sector, MongoDB has now become the most preferable NoSQL database management system in a very short span of time itself. In fact, being in its infancy stage now, we may expect more from this DBMS in the coming times to make it more acceptable and capable of handling the upcoming challenges in the changing technology field.
